Alakajam release

So I actually managed to get it finished on time...

I did alakajam #3 a few months ago and really enjoyed. Me and a friend worked together for the whole weekend to produce a game called Underpowered and I learned a whole lot.

Last weekend was alakajam #4 and although I knew I wouldn't be able to commit time to it like the last one I still wanted to submit something! The theme was released on Friday night as "Falling" and the gears in my brain started turning.

Well, fast forward to Sunday morning. 12 hours left on the jam and I haven't written a single line of code. I got some time on Saturday to plan out what I wanted to be (you can see some scratchy sketches on my twitter) but I was super duper behind if I wanted a chance at submitting something on time for the ranked jam. Also I was busy in the morning and evening so only had the middle of the day to work!

One 6 hour coding marathon later and I had what you can download now as "Fall for someone".

It may not be the most developed or polished games I've ever made but I honestly think it's one of the best ideas I've come up with. I think what really stood out to me as the developer was how simple the game was to make after I had the mechanics in place. All I needed was a simple enemy, platforms, spikes and the idea of falling out the bottom of the screen into the top. I was really impressed with how many ways this mechanic could be put to use and there are probably a ton I never even explored!

It's really a sign of a good mechanic when you don't need to keep bolting things on to the game as you go along to try and keep it fresh.

Can't wait to get some feedback on what people think of the game because I'd love to keep developing it if it goes down well!

If you've never heard of Alakajam you should really check it out, it's awesome!
